Since the winter hit us hard and is very cold outside I find that is a great time to "play" with my seedlings. icon_geek
I soaked the seed for 5 days back in July 2013, sow it in a box at 30C constant, the magic happend :D .

Thanks Kata icon_thumleft
May be it will go out in some shade for the summer time.
I better keep it indoor also for the summer.
I had one for 5 years only indoor and it was fine, untill it hit the ceiling and I was forced to take it out. As I was expecting, during the summer in full sun the leaves grow shorter but thicker, the next winter brought it in the mother in law house and untill spring died, I suppose it was to cold for it and my mother in law and father in law water it too much. icon_cheers

try a dwarf type next time getting only around 9 ft max then you won't have to bin it when it gets to big

Ok Mike, but where do i get myself a virtually free dwarf seed coconut variety icon_scratch ?
It is a low budget experiment, I m aware there is no long term future for this palm in Romania. Only if I donate it to the botanical garden it may have a chance of living longer.
