First snow of the year - Manchester
Re: First snow of the year - Manchester
Was snowing here too on the hills at around 1000 feet.
Re: First snow of the year - Manchester
Hail stones then light snow here late afternoon, still got a dusting on the grass now. Not sure if it will still be there in the morning.

Just been put now, there is a slight covering of slush which is now ice on car roofs and colder surfaces, nothing much else. Nothing like cordymans.

It is actually Cordyman.
I have not had to protect a single plant so far this winter as we have not one night below +1c since last November.
The only damage to any exotics so far this year has been caused by the relentless gales and pouring rain.
And also by people digging up and dumping some of their palm trees.
The large Phoenix canariensis_CIDP in St Denys has been tied up since mid November to protect from the constant thrashing gales and at the moment is still in perfect health.
I will untie it only when these endless storms ease up as I don,t want it to be damaged now that Spring is almost here.
All my other exotics are in perfect condition and When I was out today I saw 3 P roebellini in large pots that have been outside uncovered since last April.
These are still in perfect shape with no damage at all.
