anyone planted out his maurelli ?

Post by eddie »

Forecasts are looking good, I doubt there will be frost in the garden....

Has anyone planted out the Maurelli yet or is that a dumb idea with the risks of frosty nights in mind?

No chance. Only a few of mine made it so far. Ill pot them up in a week or so and try to get them growing inside first. Frosts certainly possible here into may.
Most wanted list - Any Young Trachycarpus and/or fern.

Potted mine up today. Had all my overwintered plants out in the sun all afternoon. Good times.

No not yet, mines in the house growing on the window sill and new roots showing through the bottom of the pot :D
Might stick it in the un heated GH in a few day though when the night time lows are a touch higher
Lost my ensete ventricosum green one though.

My Maurelii also has roots out the bottom of the pot .My green fell over and had some damage to the roots and that caused root rot .I cut the roots off and now they regrown all good .Not given no water since October .My wife want happy I used a hairdryer to dry them out .

You hope Rob, It could be May or June before you see the damage,

It was orange goo from a winter damage Cycad of mine, may be a different color for Ensetes damage.

It would be as rare as rocking horse poo for an Ensete to make it planted out all winter. Although frost was minimal to most its been very cold and wet for months.

Good luck though! icon_sunny
