The fronds were definitely a much lighter green than the larger cooperi/brownii ones, so broadly speaking I'd say they look similar. They had made the effort to relabel them from dealbata/medullaris that was on the official label so suggests that they probably are.
As I mentioned though, the australis were the £24.99 ones and were really just starting to think about putting some trunk on. Probably 6 inches on the best ones, so nowhere near the size of those big ones. They had some more in the next house as well so seem to have taken a decent delivery of them. Quite a few had potential to make double trunks I would say, although appreciate often once can die off in favour of the other (think my squarrosa may be going that way!).

So .......... how did you get on? Did you pick up much?phatplants wrote:Thanks mate for the info/pics looking forward to going this morning. Will definitely grab a Gunnera and some grasses. Have a list of plants that I'll buy if I see them, otherwise it's pretty dangerous!!!
Re: Crews Hill today
Yes, picked up a good sized Gunnera from Hillside, they definitely had more in their tropical tunnel than previous, but nothing that tempted me too much. GC was probably a bit early in the season, with large gaps in part of the building where a lot of their palms used to be. Also visited Paramount, and although good quality palms, a little out of my price range. Picked up a Cordyline 'Torbay Dazzler' from one of the small independent places and some horti-grit and compost from Thompsons. As I said, I went for specific items on my list, and got two of them. Bigger stuff on order with Nigel
