Siki

Post by kata »

My Siki turned up today from Hymalaian Garden and some bulbs as promised,

The bulbs are looking like small Lillies.

The Siki looks to have been cut so far down the stem. Should I do that with the Basjoos?

The ones I got from them last year where 6'' long. I put them in a warm sunny place to start them off and grow one of them did. It died on the third leaf or so. The others died back to root (as you say size of a lily) within weeks and slowly died over summer, me finally binning them in autumn. I am getting replacement this week from them.

they were probably cut far down the stem just to make it easier to ship them to you. Cut as little of the Basjoo as possible.

I got a baby basjoo, ensete and sikki on my south/east facing window sill, seem to be growing nicely, they need humidity and spraying them with a water mist seems to help leaves stay good inside my kitchen.

put them in compost somewhere warm and don't water them much until they have some roots

one of my batch died, I phoned them and they sent a replacement free of charge

I brought in the Siki in F.F, just misted it like CJ advised,

Its in a pot with new compost and a handful of manure.

Thanks! icon_cheers
