Is this a baby Cordyline

I found this growing near where a large cordyline died a few years ago. could it be a rogue seed that managed to germinate, or is it some type of ornamental grass?!

that's true! there are a couple near by, but I don't think they have flowered.

A large Cordyline of mine was killed in 2010 winter, last year I removed a large climber that was covering the rotten stem of the Cordyline. The stem was dead and no sign of any growth, 2 weeks later two shoots popped up out of the ground.

Hmm any cordyline I've grown from seed have all grown in a circular manner similar to bananas. Your photos looks like they are coming straight out.

Cordyline imo. I get loads germinating in the cracks of the pavior bricks.

Never thought this would happen, but I'm gonna disagree with Arlon!
I've had seedlings of both, and they are very similar at this early stage, but I'm about 95% sure that the leaf formation is that of a phormium tenax.

I'm going to agree with Arlon......and Roger
There's more chance it being a cordyline but it does look very, very similar to phormium seedlings. I'll just make sure I don't get splinters from this fence. If I fall off it will be on the cordy side

I found a seedling like that in the in laws garden. Turned out to be pampas.

Thanks everyone. I hope it is a cordyline, if it's a pampas I'll chuck it!
Should have more of an idea later in the year I hope, it does look similar to the other photos.
