I planted a new Ensete Maurelii a few weeks ago and it has already produced several new leaves. However, the most recent one (which has yet to unfurl) has had much of its top eaten. I cannot see anything in it that might have done the damage. I did see a cabbage white butterfly on the leaf yesterday but am not sure if this was just a coincidence.
The previous leaf was damaged differently. When it appeared there were a number of very thin light brown patches on it that eventually became holes. They do not look as if they have been eaten.
Any help would be gratefully received.

sounds like slugs to me check in the crown inside around the new unfurled leaf or even inside the unfurled leaf slugs have a habit of spending the day there especially after the rain as it will be moist in there
