Palm seeds

Christmas is coming try saving the seeds from your dates . Many moons ago saved the seeds from the dates and managed to germinate one. I had it growing in pots the final one about 3ft diameter . So big and heavy I could not move it under cover in the winter so the frost got it in the end . Phoenix Dactyifera .

Hi Ted, I have just come back from Egypt {honeymoon). Were f course there are plenty of dates, I didn't bring any back as I think it is a lot of trouble to grow something you cant hope to keep long term. I went to Lord Kitchener's Island which has been turned into a botanical garden, well worth a visit. I will post a few pictures on here when I have sorted Christmas out. Apart from dates I only found one tree with seeds on it was some sort of Livistona, but I don't know which one, so whether it will grow or not remains to be seen, but I doubt it if it is growing in Egypt as the weather is slightly different to ours!!!!!!
