Tropical Abutilon-like plant ID?

Post by otorongo »

This climber grows at the place I'm staying in Costa Rica. The flowers remind me of Abutilon megapotamicum, but the colours are different. The leaves are also different. The stems turn woody when they get older and thicker. Does anyone know what it is and whether it would be hardy in London? I may take a cutting if so.

There are several Clerodendrum that will just about survive in the UK but I have found outside most are hard to get to flower and now only have C myricoides Ugandense, that does OK but I see its been decided its now Rotheca myricoides so may be thats why! (and even that does better with winter under glass)
