Ground cover plants for an exotic look

Post by Black jungle »

Hello everyone.

I am new to this website so please forgive me if I am posting this in the wrong place.

I am currently building a large bio dome for exotic plants in Surrey.
I have quite a knowledge of semi tropical plants I can grow of which I don’t need any added heat, just a greenhouse to protect the plants from the cold.

Where I do lack knowledge is in the ground cover area.

Please if you have any suggestions for exotic looking, bold colourful plants... anything of that sort that you know can be grown in very sheltered areas of the U.K. I would much appreciate the tip.

I currently have a few plants ready to plant at ground level including farfugium jalonicum some pink China Colocasia and quite a few bromeliads Just to name a few, but I am looking for striking colourful foliage mostly.

Cheers

I would use Clivia if I could get away with it! But I have also seen forms of coloured leaved Tradescantia looking good on Madeira
