Moving a Trachycarpus

Post by Palmesan »

Hi

I want to replant my Trachycarpus to the edge of my garden since it Started to get in the way of the kids playing.

It’s about 7ft tall, with a few male flowers (think it’s struggling where it is because it’s bedded in a clay based soil)

How deep and wide should I go to to make sure I don’t damage the root ball? Also how big should I make the hole it’s to be placed in?

Once it’s in I’ll use chicken pellets, Palm focus and miracle grow to help it settle in its new position, is this advisable?

Also I read summer is the best time to replant so just checking now is a good time.

Thanks
