The Wodyetia looks great but I really dislike the Phoenix canariensis_CIDP, and I'm glad it turns out that it's not just me.

It's all palms with you Sean isn't it? You must love them. :D :D :D

Whether you like it or not what would you do if it came up in your garden as an unwanted seedling? Would you keep it or rip it out?

Ebay maybe?

Im sure there are plenty on here that would take it off your hands for a good price, but would you rather have a large and valuable crowd pleaser in your garden where you can get cudos for years to come?

Id probably keep it not that I really like it but because it is possibly unique...

Here is another palm with marked leaves that is on Ebay AU right now, Pinaga sarawakensis. Im tempted to grab one because I do like Pinangas, they are small and elegant and become a nice manageable clump. They are palms I can live with...

I know there are a lot of differently variegated Raphis palms available but believe they are very expensive to acquire.

That Phoenix canariensis_CIDP has been on forums before and apparently theyve never had a variegation from seeds of this one.
Some of the Rhapis are extremely expensive but you can get (or could get) the variegated excelsa at a reasonable price.
I'll dig out a pic of mine when it still looked good, now mutilated by Meally.

I Agree with Adrian, i've seen this pictures before and has read experience from people with seeds from that palm en nobody get ever a variegated Phoenix canariensis_CIDP again.

But what i also have read/hear this palm was dying? Because to many yellow... the life can be very long.. ?

I've got a variegated Phoenix canariensis_CIDP

The variegation shows itself as yellow stripes lengthwise along the stems. It also shows itself as half-half green/yellow leaves....one side yellow and the other side green.

I think I posted a picture of it before on the forum.
Be careful, it's a jungle out there!
