Ebay rogues

Post by Gaz »

Ebay Item: 150323466559

What are some people on, bidding £35 + £10p+p for a b&Q £10 Phoenix canariensis_CIDP. Sellers should be forced to put a picture of the item they are selling.

Although it does prove there is one born every minute!!!

Email the seller and ask for a picture of the actual plant. And then show us!
Be careful, it's a jungle out there!

Also seems to have forgotten to say not reliably hardy away from costal areas

It has only got that price because two people have bid that high.

Hey Gaz, dont fully blame the seller, yes sure he should have put up a photo of the palm on offer and not just of the mature specimen but he started his sale at just 99p.
Its the punters who have got it up to £35 or whatever.

I've never heard of that before. Does being near a post office have a bearing on it's hardiness? icon_scratch

I notice he covers his back by mentioning further on that the picture is of a mature specimen - which is exactly what he'll refer you to when you complain.

As someone who has sold for a living since 1982, I wish I could meet the kind of people who are blindly bidding like this because there is a lovely mile-long suspension bridge over the River Humber I'd like to sell them for cash!

Col, that would be fraud as you don't own the bridge (I assume  )
He's not a rogue. The people bidding are simply idiots. I hope no one on here would bid on one. We'd check around ie go to B+Q and get one for a sensible price. We'd also find out about hardiness. We'd never bid without a picture, ie we would apply sensible precautions. If they spend money like water they deserve what they get
