Plant ID Please....

Post by Darren Turner »

Hi Everyone,

Could someone tell what this is please, I feel I should know. I recognise it but for the life of me I can't remember it's name.

Thanks in advance.

Looks like a Puya of some sort, does this jog your memory?

More likely to be Fascicularia Pitcarniifolia.

I have realised what I thought it was but now I'm not sure......
I thought it might be a Dyckia Morris Hobbs, Martin has one in his garden.
Having done a google on 'Puya Chilensis', it does look a good contender.
It doesn't look like my Fascicuala bicolor Adrian, leaves are too broad and no white edges. :?
The plant is grown unprotected in raised beds in Gun Wharf shopping centre in Southsea, Portsmouth.

Ahhh I was wondering this too as Robin Cassell and I went to Ness Garden and saw this plant, we thought it was an Aloe at first  so Robin (if you read this) there's your answer too (maybe)!

Having done a little Googling from Franks suggestion (thanks Frank icon_salut ), I think he's right.
And it turns out Adrian was very close too. :)
This thread on the BCSS confirms it.

I'm planning an arid front garden project and this one is now added to the list of plants I need !

Thanks
