musa basjoo pup?
Re: musa basjoo pup?
My Basjoo's have pupped, but they seem to be way behind every one's else's pups, is there anything I can do to bring them forward a bit, yes your pup is taking the hard way out, it's to close to the fence for that pup, hope it survives.

Re: musa basjoo pup?
Is it still growing out of the top Paul Sometimes if there is damage in the trunk the emerging leaves force their way out the side.
Best regards
Dave

Yes ! I had exactly the same with a pup last year. I teased out the top and built up some compost underneath and then it grew on normally. Its weird what some plants do
Re: musa basjoo pup?
Interesting growth - not seen it like that before!
Mine are still all small at the moment.... growing well so far

Yes its still growing from the top Dave, im just a tad worried because where the pup is coming out of the side, its leaving a large cavity which i can put my hand intoDave Brown wrote:Is it still growing out of the top Paul Sometimes if there is damage in the trunk the emerging leaves force their way out the side.
unable to tease it out at the mo but will keep trying i think it is because the musa's now are growing closer to the fence, keep you posted.musa_monkey wrote:Yes ! Re: musa basjoo pup?
Hello,
just an update on the awkward musa pup, its still slowly trying to come out, but now i fear the main plant is dying and stopped producing leaves due to damage to the main stem the pup has caused.
i was thinking maybe to open the main stem a little and try to release the new gowth??
any help or ideas would be great
cheers paul.
