Bargain hunter strikes again
Bargain hunter strikes again
I'm a member of a local community forum. I received a PM from another member asking if i wanted a plant that was outgrowing it's pot. They did not know what it was. As it was only 5 minutes up the road i went for a look. Straight away i spotted it was a cordyline australis. The pot it was in was cracking with roots trying to escape. so it went into the boot of my car, taken home and planted in a hole in my back garden. It was very dry and hadn't had any water for a while. I gave it a small dose of palm fertilizer and watered it with the hose pipe for 5 minutes til it was saturated.

I didn't know what to expect so was pleasantly surprised when i saw it. I'm going to leave it alone (except watering) and i hope it'll be good next year.

Lucky you, I've been fairly lucky with freebies as well in the past usually thru swapping.

Nice one Jezza! well done, i wish people near me gave palm trees away!
Re: Bargain hunter strikes again
All the cheap or freebees are always miles away.
Anyway, i've added to the area, planted a chammy and put a potted Phoenix canariensis_CIDP in the corner. Much better...
