Yes I have noticed quite a few webs in the garden. There are actually four big ones with webs in my Phormium and another two or three in my Waggie between the fronds. I keep on walking into the webs when I take a wander around the garden. By the end of it my head looks like it has been wrapped in candy floss.
Amazing how quickly they put the webs up as well, overnight they just seem to spring up.

One thing I've noticed with these big spiders is they seem to leave there webs during the night, I don't know if it's something to do with them possibly being eaten by something so in the evening they shut up shop and climb down to the plant that the web is angered onto, i spend a lot of time on my steps having smokes as I don't smoke in doors so i get to see a lot of what these big spider get up to, they are so fasinating to watch you know
