Mo, it is quite difficult having jungly bits, open bits, arid bits etc all in a relatively small place. The jungly stuff grows like mad during the high summer months.

Yes, just can't stop the 'Montbeliardii' leaves shredding, Grub, as about 12 to 14 feet tall now

Edit: Sorry, Derrick..... I'm cracking up  That is Alocasia calidora, not portdora

Yes, it stopped growing leaves about mid May, and even fed on almost pure nitrogen it still kept flowering. It has 4 flower spikes and has only in the last 2/3 weeks reverted to growing leaves again. The old leaves were getting very tatty. The fruits have a couple of berries in the first one, so I guess they were pollenated, but by what I don't know as it was in the conservatory at the time.

I'm going to put a topic together on this, but was overtaken by events over the last week.

I've corrected myself as it is not A. portdora, but is A. calidora (via Kentgardener) John (Kentgardener) gave that one to me as a pup back in 2008. I am always amazed at how well Alocasia do in tiny pots. Colocasia tend to get limited by the size of the pot, but not Alocasia, and as they like to dry out a little between waterings a small pot is beneficial. This one however was planted out this summer and will be dug out again at the end of October
