According to Silverhill Seeds, their Z. Albomaculata (USDA zone 7) is hardier than Z. Aethiopica (USDA zone 8 ). I have Z. Aethiopica "Pink Mist" with larger leaves and slightly pink flowers grown from Jungle Seeds seed about 5 years ago. I wouldn't count this as one of the hardier forms of Z. Aethiopica and yet it thrives for me in a sunny well drained spot. I've had a plant of Z. Albomaculata for a few years which is in a pot and overwintered under the greenhouse staging. The white spotted leaves are as attractive as the flowers which are white with a purple blotch in the throat and the plant now stands over 3 ft tall with more flowers per sq. inch than Aethiopica. Has anyone tested this plant for winter hardiness?

Zantadeschia Albomaculata
Re: Zantadeschia Albomaculata
I met some people on a Polish gardening forum who grow Z. albomaculata outdoors all year round with some mulching in winter. So it really must be hardier than aethiopica which thrives here for 2-3 years then dies. Cannot explain it.
