The one you're talking about is dead and in the compost heap. This one i bought from steve 'pheonix' who was on here. It's been in the ground since march last year. it did sod all last year but is going for it this year.

 how did it die?

It just....died! After pushing out 6 new leaves and going nice and green last year, this year it opened a spear, then for no reason the whole thing turned brown and crispy. So up it came and there's a Dicksonia antarctica in it's place.

You are absolutely right RS, I know I half expected to be caught on candid camera when I found them....

But to be honest, I think each of my Trachycarpus has been a cracking deal one way or another, and I am really looking forward to adding to my collection with a very nice Latisectus...... icon_thumright

Funnily enough I have just been reading that thread.
I think I have the ideal spot in my new "bamboo grove" where it'll get plenty of protection from gusts.

But I do think I will also get it (latisectus) into a decent sized pot so that I can bring it into the winter huddle for the next few winters... icon_thumleft

To the left of this scene, is the side of the shed, and also 120l of Psuedosasa Japonica, so it should be quite snuggly....
