The coldest it has been out and unprotected was -6.1C in 2001 and it totally defoliated and took the whole of the next season to start growing again. Generally it has had -5C with damage but is able to regrow it out the next season.

Im not even going to try my luck with our winter! haha. we had a few days of -10c -13c and took about 4 days for day temps to go past 0c. last 2 years have been crazy.

Whats palms would you recomend?
The palms i have best luck with are fortunei and nanital? similar to takil or is . not sure.
Also what palm is that in your display pic?.
