anyone growing this? does this spread like the dreaded stuff that grows in my palm pots???
also,never realised it closes up at night,what a bargain.video link attached

Yes mate, Ive had it in the garden for god knows how many years.
It does seed around but is well behaved and not a problem like some of its family members.
The only problem I have with it is rust, as the rust takes hold I just cut it to the ground and it comes again.

do you think maybe its a bit too cold for it most of the year then? i was taken by the colour of it

it looks like a swarm of purple butterflies. will certainly add a splash of colour!

It looks very healthy....you can eat the leaves too...they're nice!

They dont grow tall, they stay around 4" to 6" high in a clump.
Cold isnt the problem causing rust Darren, not sure what causes it but I have been told that some plants get it and some dont, I have tried loads of different plants over the years and they all get it.
I have seen a couple of very nice specimen clumps in pots as house plants.

Rarely do you get to notice everything in one visit to any garden, of course its possible that mine were cut back and just restarting at the time, maybe your were blinded by the shiney new hut (as it was then) :lol: .

Yes, I hate bamboos, actually they are cut down not rid of so if you want a load :wink:

Its got to stop raining soon so next time the suns out.
Looks like Monaco will be in October now so a few more dates to fit in.
