Just an update on the Ensete glaucum. It is still in a small pot but showing the characteristic bulbus 'Snow'white pseudostem. I can't pot it up too much or I won't be able to overwinter it.

The few pics of Glaucum I've seen makes me more convinced that what I bought last year from amulree isn't one.

mmmmmmmm ........ It doesn't look like an Ensete at all to me. If that is grown in full sun much more like a Musa of some type.

This is a biggish Ensete glaucum

Thats the other photo I've seen of a large Glaucum.
So I wonder what I was sold then?I'll have to take some decent pics today and post them for an ID.I allways thought there was something funny about it.

By the slender trunk and plant behaviour I believe you have a Musa itinerans

Not fully hardy, well mine died even tho wrapped like my sikkis and basjoo.

Nanas are not my strong point but I think I am right this time.

The leaves are very wind resistant and have a tough feel to them. And its quite a slow grower compared to the other species I've got.
So any ideas?

That is a very slim pseudostem Steve. Definately not an Ensete. It might be worth putting a post on Bananas.org forum for an expert ID. Mixie could be right with iterans and you just 'winged it' through a very mild winter.
