Aeoniums growth and propogation
This is for you Arlon.
This first pic shows an aeonium given to me as a cutting in Sring 2008. The photo shows it in summer 2008 planted out.

No to the propagation bit. initially I waited until little buds started to form under the first rosette. I left these to grow and took one as a cutting when it was say 5 inches long. Plonked it into grit compost and within a couple of weeks I had a new growing plant. Every time I accidentally break a shoot off I just put them into the ground and they grow.
Here are some pics of cuttings over wintering.

Finally here is a piece that I broke off in November 2010. I put it into this pot which has a ginger in it. It is growing in compost and now is growing away!
As I said before they are very easy to grow!

They are great. They need full sun/heat/stress to get a really good deep colour on them. Some are more prone to going a good dark colour than others.

that is because it came from good stock sansanatic1234 wrote:I have a Aeonium that was given to me and aint they just stunning!! mine has now turned a red/purple colour before it warmed up properly it was fully green.
they are so easy to propagate though, and for the next 5 months they grow so quick that they take a matter of a few weeks to put roots out.
i think my collection is over 50 varieties now, and a 'few' in prop stage, the trick is to get the offsets just at the right size, too big and they've gone a bit wonky and too small and they take too long to get to a decent size.
will be giving all mine a repotting and water/feed this weekend i hope

Kris
i see youve got some echeverias in there too, glauca and duchess of nurnberg by the look of it
when they offset they are just as easy...
