picked up one of these from B&Q and expected it to be like a sempervivum but everything online says these are tender as hell.

it didnt mention anything on the label

is it any good for outside?

you can use it as bedding this year but it is tender and needs overwintering frost free, pref 4c upwards in my experience..

i treat them like aeoniums, they love it outside in the summer but really by end of sept they could do with a bit more tlc and being put under glass

i guess its light requirements make it poor as a houseplant?

Mine went tots up in the greenhouse last winter.

I would over winter indoors if I had another one.

BTW is it definitely an Elegans?

You can get echeverias through a mild winter if kept bone dry but to be honest I don't risk it anymore and bring them into the greenhouse. Would do fine on a window sill.

Most of the Echeverias I've bought were mislabled even from the independent retailers. I don't know if its just my bad luck or if this is commonplace. Just last week Homebase had no labels at all on their stock.

Might be worth checking on http://n-s-succulents.co.uk/Echeverias.php I use this site all the time it really is an excellent resource.
