Actually Greville i was thinking of buying a 3 foot Agave Americana Varigata and trying to grow one again.

I may have room in my side entrance because if i plant it outside by the wall someone will either rip it up out of the ground or steal it when i,m lying in my bivvy.

So it will have to be grown in a huge urn and overwintered in my shed.

I wish I could keep Americana alive outdoors here. I've tried smallish ones and they just melt when the ice does. With temperatures in recent years I've given up even trying to overwinter it in a coldfarme. having said that small Agave parryii, montana, utahensis and even seedlings of Agave lophantha have been fine in the coldframe for the last 3 winters.

They look very healthy?

I am glad that I haven't got the window cleaning contract for that house.

The one in my own front garden has got a bit bigger this year and thats in spite of this years non existant summer.

No protection was needed last winter and only the leaves closest to the ground were slightly damaged.

I still have to get a new varigated form but haven't had time yet to do so.

The lampranthus is still growing like mad as well?
