agave americana / century plant damage - any ideas?

Hi

I have the following inidentifiable damage to my potted agave - any ideas as to what it is???

p.s. the Phoenix canariensis_CIDP is just a random pic of one that i came accross in greece a few weeks ago :)

I have the same dommers but it has been eating the side of the leaf on mine? and now the eaten part has gone black? the rest is fine though.

Slugs and snails love them. and can eat the growing point out overnight on small Agave. That is typical slug/Snail damage. :roll:

I get the same problem with my agaves.
Put loads of pea gravel around the plants and check under the lower leaves esp during the wet months as they love hiding in dark places.
Only as a last resort use any pellets?.

same when i got mine all i did was cut of the effected leaves icon_thumright

I assumed it was burning from the sun on mine because it was only surface lol

I couldn't believe it when you said slugs would eat them, hadnt even crossed my mind! icon_thumleft just thought they liked my lettuce plants :oops: shall be using slug pellets this year!

look out for the blue slug pellets which are certified for organic use/harmless to wildlife.

never knew they did these, will keep a look out for them as i dont like using the others but i have land of the giants slugs since the last of the frogs left the garden and only way to get rid of them before they destroy my hostas
