It looks like a measely version of Medio-picta which is blue with a large creamy yellow stripe down the middle.
Best regards
Dave

Maybe americana striata?
Re: Blue and yellow striped Agave ....? I.D anyone please
I have a plain blue (?) and collected the offsets from it, one of which has a single striped leaf.
I reckon its just a genetic anomality, a curiosity.

Well it could be related Dave but there was a medio-picta there aswell
Yeah it could be Steph, i've searched online and can't find anything similar..

It could be the same clone as the Americana form called Striata. The variegation makes striations in the leaf. There is a species of agave also called striata just to confuse!

I got one on ebay quite cheap a few years ago Scott and it's got a couple of small pups. I could send you one if you fancy having a go at getting it growing on its own roots.

Thankyou Joel and cheers for taking the pictures Darren!
Great I finally know the name! There's hardly anything on the internet about them.

that will be because they arent common place Scott.i wouldnt go so far as to say they are rare but it is one of those that feature in any collections. quite fast growing but not the toughest of the bunch and probably a way off americanas hardiness.Addictedtopalms26 wrote:Thankyou Joel and cheers for taking the pictures Darren!

these will often appear as pups on the americana variegata so the proper name is americana striata. not to be confused with the agave striata which looks like a stricta, these are totally different in appearance

i'm sorry Kris!! Your were right as well!!
Edit: Thankyou Kris, Joel and Darren!
and ah that would explain it then Darren, I suppose hardiness does affect the popularity.

I think the trouble with A. americana is it's eventual size and it's lack of hardiness but the variegates do grow more slowly and can be kept smaller in pots.Addictedtopalms26 wrote:i'm sorry Kris!! Your were right as well!!
