Opuntias have arrived!

Post by cheshirepalms »

My opuntias have arrived from the USA courtesy of miketropic. Just potted them up in a mixture of 60% grit and 40% compost, all I had available, might add some sand on the top when i get some. Not watered them as yet, good thing or bad?

they will do fine with a bit of heat on them. I would water them in once and let the dirt settle around the pad to help it root in then let it stay dry. Both are hardy to 0F. they type with out the long spines makes the edible fruit. both are a lay down type opuntia..good luck hope they do well for you over there.
