Good aggregate for a 'desert' effect.
Good aggregate for a 'desert' effect.
I have been mulling it over for a while, but still can't decide the best aggregate to use to create a 'desert' sort of landscape. Currently I am thinking a red granite (such as http://onlinegravel.onlineturf.co.uk/pa ... tegory=781), with some bigger York stone type rocks (which I have plenty of hanging around the garden) to break it up a bit. Do you think this would work?
Re: Good aggregate for a 'desert' effect.
I personally prefer the green granite, the red looks like an unfinished road....but it is personal choice
Re: Good aggregate for a 'desert' effect.
I prefer something lighter, sort of 'buff' colour as it shows off the plants better. It's a personal choice. I think mine is 'calico'.

Darker colours will attract the heat more, but release it quicker at night. I like the red granite, but would go for a sparser covering mixed in with pea gravel. I have Cotswold chippings (white) which larger sandstone rocks placed at intervals.
