After being planted out over a year my tallest linearis has started to have pup's!, I realise this is the nature of this particular yucca but am suprises there 15 inches from main plant?, i'm told these are to be left as they help stabilise the plant. karl.

Cool !! It'll look great in a few years time. How tall is the parent plant ?

Mine was in the ground for 4 years before it rotted away, but never pupped.

This is new to me, where are the photos?

I will get some pic's on the wkend, as far as I know this is the only trunked yucca that has this pupping behaviour, it's almost like the way chammy's clump, I've only got one appeared so far but the potted ones nigel had had them growing all round the pot. karl.

Karl... that's one nice looking Linearifolia That pup does seem to be some distance from the mother plant. One of my Linearifolia flowered last year. it also produced two pups side by side but very close to the mother plant Strangely the mother plant is trying to produce two heads.... I've not seen a multi headed Linearifolia yet, has anyone??

Thank's andy, I did ask nigel about the offset as I knew it was abnormally far away from mother plant!, he reckon's this is normal?, this particular linearis is turning into a stunning specimen although the limegreen one's I had off him with even fatter trunk's will be even better plant's once they develop better head's as they've flowered!. I've never seen a multihead linearis but would like one!. karl.

UPDATE, looking at the offset tonight i'm not 100% it's off the linearis as I did have some yucca gloriosa planted inbetween them last year & it could yet turn out to be a pup of one of these that got left behind!!. karl.

That makes more sense! To me they looked almost like Agave pups but gloriosa looks like that as well.

distance isnt a problem for gloriosa either,next year i have to dig out a front border as the main plant has spread far more than i thought it would,letting this years pups develop first though so can pot them up for swaps/freebies etc
