That's usually a symptom of irregular watering but more often than not it will affect more than one leaf. I have a potted A. Americana in the Canaries which suffered with this on a couple of leaves while I was back in the UK for the summer of 2017 and my plant sitter friend didn't water it for a month when he was away himself. This year while I was back in the UK for 11 weeks the Agave was well watered once a fortnight and no such blistering occurred.

Needless to say the 30 year old specimen in my London garden has suffered with no such problem even with this years heat and drought.

You're welcome, Tatter. I only wish I had my franzosinii to experience this problem this past summer as after some 25 years my prize Agave was turned to mush by the beast from the east.
