Pete,

It looks like a Frithia pulchra from the Magalies mountains. Only Fenestraria looks similair.

There are quit a number of good winterhardy and very free flowering Opuntias for the warmer parts of the UK like Kent. Well they flower here very well so they should do there as well. Look at kakteengarten.de for some pictures.

It needs winter protection Nick, mainly from the wet, and yes it does have prickles.

Opuntias that flower well in the UK are always good ones Grenville.

Renae, it looks like our Christmas and Easter Cactus, but I may be wrong, but what a lovely colour it is.

Nick, it is the same as the christmas cactis..Epiphyllum.. Here's the red one..
I got given a bag of old half dead stem's and was told each one's a different colour.. these are the first two to flower.. Very excited :o

I'd love to buid a wall/like structure to grow them on.. :wink:

Renae beautiful flower, I've had limited success with easter and christmas cactus flowering (until first frost) over winter in the ground.. it surprised me too!

Epiphyllums, I wonder if they have any chance in a hanging basket under shelter..?

Hi Steven.. mine are mostly in hanging basket's under shelter.. Can't see why not.. but I'm no expert for your climate.. :wink:
