I received my Caladiums yesterday from Anglia bulbs and must say, what excellent service and first class packaging. Not only was each bulb indivually packaged in a strong paper bag with a proper label but also got an extra bulb or two plus a personallised letter. Top notch customer service. Lets hope they grow now!

Snap

As they've given me some free extra Caladiums I'm starting some off with a warm water pre-soak a la market collie/xantho video, Chris. I'll compare these with a normal pot-up tuber bottom heat method icon_thumright

No. They are on top of the boiler (each pot in a bag to retain moisture / humidity), so get some bottom heat for 4 hours or so when it is on - as all other bottom-heat capacity is already in use :(

Rejoice icon_cheers a sighting at about 3pm this afternoon :D A tiny shoot on the 'white christmas' Caladium appeared.

I just had to check the others and found some tiny roots on the bottom of 'Carolyn Whorton' (She was SO embarrassed   ) It shows I had it planted the right way up.
I lifted out Frieda Hempel (She didn't mind  ) but this was NOT the right way up. I found a couple of tiny bulbous white shoots on the bottom and no roots so I turned it round and replanted it. I'll check this for roots in a few days time.

Of the three that are now moving only the 'C. Whorton' was pre-soaked, the others had been placed straight into moist compost/perlite so no difference there. The 'F. Hempel' has started growth in a slightly less warm propagating box, so extra heat has not necessarily made a difference either.

So, Kris and Kristen, check yours now icon_salut

Mine started to sprout in almost dry compost up on top of the kitchen wall cupboards temps around 18 to 23 ish. Maybe you need to give them time.
Best regards
