Quite a bit of sun scorch there. The new leaves will be fine.

Yep, the leaves that point at the ground and those behind the statues are absolutely fine.

The 2 largest leaves are actually recovering though, they were totally white at one point.

I think I might have to relocate these in case we get another hot spell.

ive got mine indoors and its finally sprouted a new leaf! however there are dozens of tiny midges all over the original compost. I've tried provado spray, but butters are still there.

They are not likely to be midges, more like compost flies, which are attracted to peat based compost, and get everywhere. The provado may only work for a short period and eggs may not be affected. Best method of controlling them is to sprinkle sharp sand or grit on the surface of the compost. Alocasia prefer a quick drying surface touching the base of the plant, it reduces the chances of rot setting in in cooler weather.

Cheers Dave

I changed the compost, and washed the roots proper before replanting. But on my tropicana i did put sand down, and poured water mixed with fairy liquid. havent seen those butters come back so far! icon_cheers

Up date on my double plant that I separated and repotted after the roots rotted.

Kept in the greenhouse, the larger one has put out three leaves since early June but the tiny piece of tuber that went dormant stubbornly refuses to start.

I planted my two mayan mask in a garden several weeks ago ....

nothing much happened .... they just sat there with no new growth ... lost a few leaves as they drooped when I planted them

had a look yesterday, and both have new leaves forming now, so am looking forward to see what they look like at the end of summer

:)

Kris, If they have stalled they need some sort of bottom heat to kick start them, particularly when very small. I have an 11w sankey uncontrolled prop, giving 25 to 40C depending on ambient temp. All my new or stalled, Alocasia go on that with 5mm water in the bottom. Alocasia want hot and wet to kick start them. No other combination works as well for me.

Cool wet = root rot
Hot wet = Restart

these plants seem to do horrible in full sun. they also have a tendancy to feed heavy. if you don't give them enough food the maroon will almost dissapear from the backs and the fronts will get alot of yellowing..Don't know how long these have been in the UK but I thought I would add a little somthing
