Yours must have been producing more runners than mine then. If I just had the stolon terminal plants I'd get 4 or 5 a year, and 4 to 8 feet away. That is why I have been trying to cut into nodes, but that is when the difficulties started.Palmer wrote:

Re: Colocasia gaoligongensis, one of the most hardy
I found it best to leave the nodes on just take the corm of the end of the runner and the nodes will then produce more plants… all be it smaller!
After December 10, I only had three small gaoli left that I had over wintered indoors.
I placed all three in a large pot, and that summer they produced lots of runner about 30ish above the soil… anyway i cut them all off and through them away because I was sure I would have enough runners under the soil to produce more plants for this year.
When I emptied the pot this spring I had 20odd plants, all those plants are now producing runner so you see the numbers soon start to add up!
I’ve planted the smaller plants in a big tub as backups and the rest I have planted around the garden.

A goali division i planted just a few months ago , is throwing out 6 runners at the mo, the longest about 3ft so far. Had a look this morning and i presume that the growth in pic 2 on the runner is a new pup ?

That second pic looks more like a broken runner to me Arlon. The pups look more like a bulb on the end of the runner

Just nipped down there to have a look, nothings broken, it does however look like another runner growing out of the longest runner .
I'll leave it develop and see what happens and keep a look out for a more bulbous growth from all the runners

They don't have black markings all the time Ken. It is mainly young leaves in summer, in sun. See picMr List wrote:yours doesnt seem to have the black colouration that the ones i have, dave has and arlon has.

Left pic is a young, full sun leaf on the pup of the lower left hand side of the right pic. Left = July full sun above the Trachycarpus, Right = end of August sun has dropped and is mainly shaded.
Best regards

Re: Colocasia gaoligongensis, one of the most hardy
I may be corrected, but I think the colouration is down to the aspect they are grown in. I had a few leaves earlier in the year that were darker. I planted two small pieces about three years ago, tbh I can't remember where they came from.Mr List wrote:yours doesnt seem to have the black colouration that the ones i have, dave has and arlon has.

Re: Colocasia gaoligongensis, one of the most hardy
i didn't think they clumped up so well as that, i hope mine come on like yours.
@dave
i find that odd because the one i have in a pot has very dark markings but just gets some morning sun, no where near full sun.

Didnt see your post Dave, glad I was sorta right.
Re: Colocasia gaoligongensis, one of the most hardy
Here's pic of mine from the 6th of July, you can see some leaves are slightly darker.
BTW Mark's (Arlon) and mine are one and the same plant, he has a sunnier garden.
