How are your Mammoths doing this year!
How are your Mammoths doing this year!
I bought a couple at the end of last year from Carl and this year I’ve planted them out… I’m very pleased with their growth considering some of the crappy weather at the start of the summer.
The biggest leaf is 70cm with another new leaf on its way, so hopefully it will get bigger!

Palmer,
as with yours, my 2no mammoths were pups last year. Leaf size is also comparable as they are all slighlty over / under the 70cm mark.

Nice one Arlon, it’s my first year with mammoths planted out and pleased with the results! All things considered with the weather.
I have one mammoth and two mammoth lookalikes from Turkey and another one from an Asian food store, all of them are in the poly at the mo.. but they haven’t got any bigger, even though they have it much warmer.

Same here, growth has been good. I thought the aroid bed i did would be big enough but in all honesty........it ain't
I got it in my head now to do another aroid bed in another area of the garden but this time to incorporate a small pond with all the aroids planted around it.
I'm afraid i might have the aroid bug now..... ............

Mine aren't as big this year, probably as they were in very small pots, and didn't get planted out until mid June. My largest are around 50cm
Best regards

Well have to say that mine are flippin awfull this year and had to return one to the house to stop it going dormant! Got about thirty aroids all in pots and nearly all have only put out one or two leaves since putting them out in late june. I know the spring/summer has been pants this year but starting to think seriously about down scaling then to just a handfull cos of the hassle of overwintering them in the house Nige

You obviously have shelter from the wind.
My largest leaf was 74cm and still expanding, when the wind blew the ears off it It snapped the main veins just above the 'pica' (where the stem joins) so don't know how big it would have got. Awaiting a new leaf now.

It is quite sheltered to be fair Dave. Pity about yours, hopefully the next will go full throttle.
Do the leaves on these carry on growing after they unfurl ?
I ask because when i measured this one late last week, it was only measuring low 70's and i thought it was smaller due to it pupping

My biggest leaf is at 80cm now, any advice on feeding them to get the max out of them… or is that a trade secret
Should I use warm water when watering them?
Its windy today
