which Aroid, Alocasia or Colocasia.
which Aroid, Alocasia or Colocasia.
Is there a alocasia or colocasia that is hardy enough to be left in the ground over winter, keeping in mind im in the midlands.
Vales are selling pink china and state they are hardy, are they? and are there any others that will be fine with just a mulch.

I think that will be a no but I've got very limited experience.
Alocasia Mayan Mask are very sturdy though and can be easily overwintered on a windowsill.

Cheers chaps, windowsill space is very limited here due to the wife's love of vertical blinds.
My potted burgundy stem survives in my unheated greenhouse, but I was hoping there would be something that could be left in the ground that would just die down then reshoot.

Pink China should be the best bet along with Wilkos Mammoth or similar. Many people have had these come back after winter. I have just had mammoths come back but not tried anything else until this coming winter.

Ok cool, I'l give them both a crack next year.
Now ive just got to locate them lol. Vales want £12 for there pink china, plus almost the same again in postage.

I'd have thought - Colocasia gaoligongensis would be your best bet Del, I had 2 stolon runners come back after 'that' winter, outside and unprotected after -19C http://www.hardytropicals.co.uk/forum/v ... 1&start=60
