Can anyone ID this Alocasia i bought from wilkinsons a couple of days ago, Thanks.

EDIT. I would say it is Deffinatley african Mask Arlon. Lovely..

These are 'Jewel' type Alocasia. The easiest plant in the world to kill with overwatering. They need to be treated like succulents. When completely dry and the petioles start to wilt, stand in a saucer of water for 5 minutes. Don't be tempted to water from the top, or rot will set in within 2 seconds :lol:

Just remember.... don't water :lol:

there are some beautiful "jewel" types but far to finicky for me to mess with.

It wont survive with me then icon_geek I live up north where its allways wet icon_geek It was priced at £4.98 but when i checked the receipt i was charged 1p so i wont cry if i kill it :mrgreen:

Dried mine off completely in a gently heated prop in the greenhouse. The main corm still has a firm spike but just when I thought it was dormant it sent up a pup by the end of last year. Only watered it from the bottom twice this year and still looks OK. Second winter. (Think I'm an expert, now :lol: :lol: )
