Bringing Colocasia out of dormancy

Post by ourarka »

So, this Colocasia Black Beauty appears to have entered dormancy over the winter. Recently I have kept it at room temperature, above a radiator, and kept it moist. It has a lot of small leaves shooting up, but all still seem to wilt off. How do I go about bringing this out of dormancy? What sort of temps (night and day) does it need and how much water (dry, damp, moist, wet)?

Thanks in advance.

If it is growing leaves it's not dormant :)

Probably lack of humidity and light. Black Magic needs reasonably high humidity, and high light levels compared to most Colocasia. If you have had the same lack of sun for weeks on end, that I have, that will be one reason.
Best regards

Thanks Dave - certainly been very little sun of late. What's the best treatment for it then over the coming days/weeks?
