Philodendron "Hope"

Post by Troppoz »

I just picked up half a dozen of these on Ebay for a song (3 bucks each!) and while searching for some information about them I discovered that they are a cold hardier cultivar of P. bipanntifidum (selluom) new from the USA.

They are said to be hardy in zones 7-8 and can survive a ground frost of -14c (dying back to below ground) so could be an option for milder gardens in the UK. Its also supposed to be more compact and smaller growing than the standard P. bipinnatifidum so would be easier to overwinter in a crowded conservatory or greenhouse.

Not sure if they are available over there yet but worth keeping your eyes out for.
