I didn't have time to dig out Colocasia Jack's Giant and Xanthosoma violaceum before the frost of Tuesday 19th Nov, as it took longer than expected to get other plants out. All would not have been lost as I am going to dry store these this year and that involves removal of the leaves, but to my surprise both were completely untouched by the -1.5°C (29F) while the Dahlia imperialis across the centre, after being blown over in the st. Jude's Day storm, was blackened.
These will be left out for longer now as no point in cutting them down in their prime.

Encouraging Both mine are safe in the greenhouse, however.

My mammoths took the firs frost and the -3c without trouble but the next one with the -7c they went bad in one afternoon and had to be cut down

Wow, maybe I should get some mammoths then! In most winters they would stay evergreen here.
Edit: where do you guys get them? I can't find any.
