It took a real hammering this winter as it was only planted out last Spring, so I am actually a little bit relieved as well as happy to see the new culms starting to appear :)

its turning out to be quite a tough species.im well impressed how mine has handled the winter with hardly any leaf burn and has sized up very quickly.

About a 1/4 of the leaves on mine are showing signs of burn, but I put that down to it only having been in the ground for a relatively short time.

I am pleased that you think it is a good 'un Jacko and I hope mine performs well.

i can see why its called 'robusta' now cant believe the size of the new culms,they could reach 12ft this year at a guess.

i took a rough count at about 50 new culms.only been 2 full years in the ground. :shock:

its still a bit early for most species robusta's and scabrida are usually the first to shoot in early spring.a lot of my other ones arent doing much yet.

another month gone by and this is what the robusta looks like now.most of the culms are now around the 5-6ft mark.
