Broken off culms...will regrow or not?

Post by paulrm71 »

Courtesy of one clumsy gardner (me) and another via the tortoise, I have broken off two emerging culms from my phyllostachys nigra. The broken bit amounts to a couple of inches, so will the new cane carry on growing or will it have aborted?

Thanks

I'm not sure, but my gut feeling is they won't grow much more.

No that's it for those culms I'm afraid.

Plenty more will follow I'm sure.

In general how do you know when to abort a culm?, some of mine are really thick but have gone brown?, sometimes 3/4 of a culm is green but the other 1/4 looks dead.
