Jeez it's slow in comparison to you guys down south, sigh!
I wouldn`t worry - Not a single culm on mine down here in Sunny Rhyl yet.

You can see the remnants of the broken down banana leaf mulch in the pics too, from the start of winter, they love it drunken_smilie1

Andy been watering them everynight for last 2 weeks icon_thumleft Also the culms seem slightly thicker again this year, I thought they stayed the same size.

List is your Robusta stock variety or campbell? looks a different colour to mine?

My nigra is always very slow Tom, so I wouldn't worry.

Cordyman - your Campbell is going mental!

i've terminated around 20 culms which were growing right under my kerbstone on the wall, but there is still an absolute forest of culms left to erupt LOL

i seriously think its the banana leaf mulch, lay it on 4-5 leaves thick, keeps them toasty all winter, drip feeds nutrients as they rot, traps in what little ground heat there has been this Spring, and keeps them moist too.

Thats good to know. I think I will have to start watering them lots though as we are so dry here, with no real rain forecast in the near future.
Most wanted list - Any Young Trachycarpus and/or fern.

Spotted some new shoots on my Indocalamus latifolius.

Everything else, except my campbell, is still fast asleep.
