this warm weather has certainly made for some impressive culm growth rate,size and production on my vivax's.they seem to have caught up with themselves after a slow beginning due to the cool spring.

This is my Chusquea Gigantea today. It is throwing up 2 new culms.

vivax has certainly caught up with itself culms around 30ft now and look like theres a couple more feet to go.

4 days later vivax at 35ft :shock: this warmth certainly has made a difference to them.

jacko, when you have grove's off different boo's example aureo & aureasulcata, do you let them grow into each other or do you try to keep each variety separate?. karl.

karl,they seem happy enough growing together as different species intermingled.but i am noticing some competition for light.the leaf canopy is slowly getting higher up as branches on culms below 7ft dont make it and die off.i pruned up to 5ft on culms a couple of years ago now it is 7ft and rising as they mature.cheers kata. :D
