Freezing Rhizomes

Post by Thomas9666 »

Hey, me again
This may seem like a slightly stupid question since everyone says to keep rhizomes away from frost at all times, but is it possible to freeze rhizomes for long term storage?

Recently I have started a "Seed Bank" of local plants in my area, and beneficial plants that are not so local. And whilst doing this I wondered since bamboo is unlikely to go to seed in Scotland, is there a way I can cold store a rhizome or two to add to the collection?
So if anyone can answer this, by either saying "No you twat it kills them" or "Here's another storage method..." then that would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Tom

Also, I have some spare Phyllostacys Edulis seeds left over from a while ago, can they be frozen without fatal damage?
