Bamboo id Please

Post by allangreenbean »

Just got this for £20 from a man in a van at side of road.

Asked what type of bamboo it was, reply was a big leaf one.

Any idea what this is.

Call, yes sounds dodgy but they are legit. If the customer won't come to the nursery then bring the nursery to the customer. Or at least where potential customers will see the plants.

Mr L, I think I will keep this one in a cage, it does sound like a bit of a beast.

There is a clump not too far from me and the roots are lifting the pavement.
Did he pay you 20 quid to take it away? :)

Joking aside, £20 was a fair price to pay and they don't usually begin wandering for a few years and even then, the culms are not too deep and may be cut. The bamboo barrier stuff should work well if needed, The Palm Centre sells it.

I have one but I don't think my garden is big enough.
There are far better bamboo in my opinion.
Anyone want mine, I also have a few other surplus to requirements.

I love it as a hedge, as I have it in my garden. biggest leaves for a taller hardy bamboo really.

My 10 year old clump has remained a clump and has not shown any tendency to wander.

YMMV
