How many pups do they normally grow when a growing point is killed? Are they like basjoo with many pups.Dave Brown wrote:It's an Ensete, they don't pup. You only get pups if you kill the growth point.B19bst wrote:Anyone have any pups of these they want too sell.

There is only a single rhizome, in many respects it is like a turnip, so it may grow several growth points around the top if you are lucky. No guarantees you will get more than one, if unlucky the whole thing rotsfern Rob wrote:How many pups do they normally grow when a growing point is killed? This is from further up the topic
One thing I can now say, is that is has the most wind tolerant leaves I have seen of any Banana or EnseteDave Brown wrote:Not that I am aware of, and unfortunately David Constantine, who introduced it, sadly passed away, so we can't ask. However, with over 80 cultivars from Ethiopia, it is a fair bet, it's from there.Palmer wrote:Hi Dave, is there any info regards the country of origin of Hiniba?
The more upright forms are used higher up the mountains as they suffer less from radiation frost forming on the leaves. The red ones like Montbeliardii apparently have a more bitter taste, so Hiniba could be a sweeter cold tolerant one
All assumptions I'm afraid.
