FINALLY :) got my hands on Ensete Hiniba :):):)
I've liked this Ensete since Lucien wrote about it back in 2007, but the only supply seems to have been from David Constantine in 2007 through Koba, Koba. David Constantine also introduced Ensete Montbeliadii, however to my knowledge Ensete Hiniba has never been available commercially since then.
BUT today I bought two Nice healthy plants raring to go

Re: FINALLY :) got my hands on Ensete Hiniba :):):)
They are Ensete, not nanas, different plants. What distinguishes Hiniba from other Ensete is it is like a green version of Montbeliardii, unlike Maurelii and standard ventricosum.Mr List wrote:what distinguishes them from other nanas for you dave?
The other major difference is these seem to be the only ones in western cultivation, so not a plant to stick in the garden and say "Oh it died in the winter" If we all did that, it's gone.
Best regards
Dave

Yes they are... the longer the wait, the greater the jubilationTom2006 wrote:they look lovely!
Sorry, correction, should have said this batch, rather than just the two I have. The seller is a member, and may have a couple left to sell, but I'll leave it to them to confirm.Dave Brown wrote:

Really pleased for you Dave, it's obvious how excited you are to finally have this plant in your collection.
I look forward to seeing it grow, if anyone is going to get great results from such an uncommon Ensete it's you.
Keep us updated.

Agreed, looking forward to them growing. I'm considering asking Dave if he can overwinter all my precious plants this winter?

Re: FINALLY :) got my hands on Ensete Hiniba :):):)
Does it require same conditions as other Ensetes? I mean not too hot. Cuz I have found Ensete Uganda which apparently grows better in hot and humid climates
